Coping with christmas when you are bereaved
Christmas and other holidays can be an especially difficult time for those who are bereaved, particularly if it is the first year following the loss of a loved one.
The Irish Hospice Foundations series of bereavement leaflets includes a leaflet offering some advice for bereaved people on getting through the holiday period. ‘Coping with christmas when you are bereaved‘, along with the other bereavement leaflets can be accessed on the Irish Hospice Foundation website HERE and print copies of this and other leaflets are available free of charge by contacting the Irish Hospice Foundation on 01 6793188 or emailing info@hospice-foundation.ie
The leaflet features some suggested reading material offering advice on adjusting to holidays following bereavement, all of which are available to borrow from the Therese Brady Library. Details of these and all other suggested titles are available in the bereavement bibliotherapy booklet which can be downloaded HERE
You can also watch THIS short video from the Irish Hospice Foundation in which Dr Susan Delaney offers some advise on getting through christmas following a bereavement.
THIS information sheet from the UK Childrens Bereavement charity is also a useful source of advice for children and young people facing christmas following a loss.
