NICE Guidelines – NHS National Institute for Health & Clinical Excellence site which includes their guidelines

NICEPathways – An online tool to provide quick reference guide and access to all NICE guidence and statements on a given topic. Key pathways include dementia, chronic heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder and include details of managing the palliative phase of these diseases.

LENUS – The Irish Health repository

Lenus provides open access to publications from the HSE and Irish health research publications. Irish Hospice Foundation Material is available on LENUS HERE

Scirius; A specialised science and medical search engine which searches the web for scholarly scientific publications. Items retrieved by searching in Scirius may still require login to access full text however search results can be broken into free full text items.

PLos – Public Library of Science – A portal of open access medical and general healthcare research publications.

Intute – Web portal divided by academic discipline, provides searchable database of reliable web resources by subject

BioMed Central – An open access publisher of medical and scientific research includes links to individual peer reviewed open access journals.

Palliative care research and treatment

An e-journal covering  clinical, scientific and social policies in palliative care. The publication has only been in existence since 2008 so coverage only goes back that far.
